Generous golfers raised over a hundred pounds for charity when they took part in the captains’
drive-in at Woodside Golf Club, Cranage.

The annual event, in which members guess how far the club’s captain and lady captain both hit a ball off the club’s first tee, raises money for the charities that are chosen each year by the two Captains.

The Charities benefiting this year include The Francis House Rainbow Trust children’s hospice and Cystic Fibrosis. Woodside Captain Geoff Cheetham managed
to hit the ball 179 yards, whilst Lady Captain Pat Hall reached 107 yards. Geoff said ‘we have a
lot more fundraising events lined up throughout
the year and I have every confidence they will be well supported throughout the club’.

Bill Blake & Marie-Therese Whelan guessed the distances correctly and won prizes that included bottles of wine.
